Rabies Education with Kaboax in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT)
Published on 28 June 2024
Raising public awareness can be done through YouTube content about rabies. KABOAX's first episode informs that rabies can be prevented in two ways. Firstly, vaccinate dogs (for free) regularly! Dog vaccines are available at the local health centre or local animal husbandry office. Avoid being bitten or licked by dogs if there are open wounds on the skin. If bitten, wash the wound in running water using soap or detergent for 15 minutes. Immediately report the bite to the nearest community health centre or hospital for anti-rabies vaccine.
Rabies remains a serious threat in Timor Tengah Selatan (TTS), Timor Tengah Utara (TTU), Belu, Malacca and Timor Leste. The second video series in collaboration between AIHSP and KABOAX, titled "Kalau Sayang Jangan Setengah-Setengah", encourages us to take responsible care of our pet dogs, including vaccinating them against rabies. This episode also provides important guidance on how to handle dog bites and the medical steps to take. Let's vaccinate your dog at the nearest Puskeswan or Animal Hospital!
The third video episode of AIHSP's collaboration with local influencer KABOAX titled "Kena Gigit Anjing" highlights the importance of maintaining and taking good care of dogs. The video informs the public of the important first response to a dog bite. There are three important steps that must be adhered to by the entire community regarding the handling and prevention of rabies transmission, namely how to keep animals properly, how to take good care of them, and vaccination.
