To manage the rabies outbreak in Sumba, the public needs to be educated on how to manage the disease. Rabies can be transmitted from animals to humans through bites, licks to open wounds, and mucous glands. Symptoms in humans include nausea, headache, aggressiveness, fear of light, sound and water. To treat a bite, the wound should be washed with soap and running water for 15 minutes, then immediately report to the nearest health officer.
