Rabies is caused by a neurotropic virus of the genus Lyssavirus that can infect all mammals. This disease is zoonotic and can be transmitted to humans from animals. Rabies was first reported in NTT in 1997 in Sarotari Village, East Flores Regency. Until 2023, there were 126,747 bite cases recorded with 395 fatalities. Bite management is an implementation of the One Health approach that provides education to field officers in handling rabies cases.
