
Livestock Meat is Safe for Consumption

This infographic provides tips for processing livestock meat during a Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) outbreak. First, do not wash the meat before processing. Boil the meat in boiling water for 30 minutes before cooking. If the meat is stored, both the meat and its packaging should be palced in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours, then stored in the freezer. Offal that is still in a raw state needs to be boiled for 30 minutes in boiling water and stored in the refrigerator. Used packaging should be soaked with disinfectant before disposal.
