Biosecurity, A Strategy to Prevent the Spread of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD)

One way to prevent the spread of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) is to understand and implement biosecurity. For example, before entering the farm and reproduction services, field officers must be disinfected and use complete Personel Protective Equipment (PPE). Guests visiting the farm are prohibited from visiting other farms for a minimum of 3x24 hours and must follow biosecurity procedures according to the Standard Operational Procedure (SOP). Reproductive service workers are also required to use and change PPE in every farm they serve.
