Initiation of Public Health and Animal Health Collaboration in Collaborative Surveillance Activities and Risk Communication in Cilacap, Central Java

The Cilacap District Government initiated integrated efforts between the animal health and human health to prevent and control zoonotic diseases and Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) through integrated surveillance and risk communication. With support from AIHSP, this initiative has resulted in the establishment of forums linking community health centres (Puskesmas) and animal health centres (Puskeswan). It has also developed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for managing zoonoses as well as SOPs for risk communication.
