Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) – Recognize the Disease, Control the Cause

Published on 27 January 2023

Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) is managable if farmers recognise the disease and how it spreads. Despite being an acute disease and easily spread through direct and airborne contact to cattle, sheep and pigs, it is curable. To support FMD control, the government has distributed vitamins, medicines and Personel Protective Equipment (PPE) to a number of regions in Indonesia. Meat from FMD infected animals is still safe for consumption as the main transmission occurs in livestocks.
